North Stars Skate School

Come learn to skate with us! When you join our Learn to Skate program you will be registered with Learn to Skate USA! You will receive a half hour of lesson time with limited class sizes. The basic skills hockey program is certified by USA hockey. Participants in North Stars Skate School are eligible to take part in our annual spring show in May.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Snowplow Sam Classes (Snowplow 1-4)

Four progressive levels that are designed to introduce preliminary moves to young beginning skaters. Helmets are recommended for all skaters while on the ice.  A lightweight bike helmet is acceptable.

Basic Skills Classes (Basic 1-6)

Six carefully planned progressive levels allow skaters to feel comfortable on the ice while learning the basics of skating.  Introduction to forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers and turns.

Free Skate Classes (Pre Freeskate-Freeskate 3)

Skaters must have passed Basic 6.  Skaters learn jumps, spins and other advanced figure skating elements.

Hockey Classes (Hockey 1-4, Power skating)

Four progressive levels teaching the fundamentals of hockey skating.  Focus is on balance and agility. Elements will be taught without a stick or puck. Hockey helmet is suggested but optional.

Adult Classes (Adult 1-6)

This class, for adults only, will follow four progressive levels appropriate for the beginner skater or skaters who would like to brush up on their skills to be comfortable on the ice again.
